How to Fit 4-Way Stretch Carpet Lining

How to Fit 4-Way Stretch Carpet Lining

Installing van lining carpet can be a tricky process. Installing it around your van doors is even harder. This process is made easier with 4-way stretch carpet lining which is a beginner-friendly carpet option.

4-way stretch carpet lining can be stretched in all 4 directions meaning it can be formed over all the bumps and contors found on the interior of your van. The carpet is installed easily with high-temperature adhesive allows for the carpet to be installed over any material. This means the carpet lining can be fitted over, metal, insulation, wood and more.

Fitting carpet on van interior walls

The first step is to get the size carpet needed for your van and spray the adhesive on the carpet and the surface it is being applied to. The adhesive will not work if you only apply it to one side. We recommend that you start from the top of the wall in the camper and slowly work your way down keeping tension on the carpet to prevent creases.

If you make a mistake and creases appear on the carpet you can quickly rip it off and re-apply the carpet to correct the mistake. It is also a good idea to use a wooden or plastic card or scraper to work out any small creases that are left. Make sure this is all done before the glue drys, high temp adhesive drys in around 30-60 seconds.

Windows

Repeat this process and fit the carpet over any windows, cutting the material off after it is fitted (do not use adhesive on the window). You can use a plastic scraper card to push the carpet into the trim of the window to achieve a flush finish.

Doors

Use a separate cut of carpet for each of the doors and use the same technique used on the walls to fit this carpet, you can use a scraper to push the carpet right into a rubber door seal to create a professional-looking finish.
